Version 4.1 – October 2025
This is a very minor update, but accuracy matters, and I appreciate the sharp eyes in the community who help me catch things!
What’s new in v4.1:
- Sheet 11 (All Available Colours – Page 1):
The colour swatch for Bouquet Floral 2 / Spice Market 3 was incorrectly showing the same brown as Earth 5 / Nostalgia 5 / Essentials 22. The swatches have now been corrected to reflect the actual colour. - Sheet 12 (All Available Colours – Page 2):
The colour swatch for Dreamy Colour 5 was mistakenly showing the swatch for Dreamy Colour 4. This has also been corrected.
Shoutout to the awesome supporter who brought this to my attention! I genuinely appreciate when people reach out with feedback, these guides are meant to be reliable, and community input helps keep them that way.
No other changes were made between v4.0 and v4.1. If you already printed your toolkit, you can choose whether to reprint pages 11 and 12, or simply make note of the corrected colours.
Welcome to the first official changelog for the Swatch Book Toolkit!
While I’ve made updates behind the scenes before, version 4.0 marks the point where I start tracking those changes more intentionally, so you’ll always know what’s new, what’s fixed, and whether it’s worth re-downloading.
What’s New in Version 4.0
Added New Packs
- Apricot Crush
- Blossom
- Desert Sunset
- Oceanside
Each of these new colour packs has been scanned and added to both the digital swatches and the printable swatch book pages.
Improved Colour Organization
The “All Available Colours” pages got a total overhaul:
- Shades are now grouped more intuitively (e.g., Lime vs Olive vs Forest greens).
- Colours flow better from light to dark within each tone family.
- Several minor label errors were corrected (thanks to everyone who pointed them out!).
Essentials Pack Consolidation
- I confirmed that the Essentials pack in 8.5×11 and 12×12 formats are now packaged in the same colour order. So these have been combined into a single reference sheet.
- However, the Bright Essentials pack still has different orders for 8.5×11 and 12×12—so those remain separate sheets.
Packaging Note for Essentials
A lot of people don’t realize this: the product image on the Michaels website for the Essentials pack doesn’t match the physical product you’ll find in stores. I confirmed that the correct version (used in this guide) has a white label, not the outdated black one shown online. If you’re following this guide, make sure you buy the white-label pack, or your colours may be in the wrong order.
Going Forward
Starting now with version 4.0, all future changes, big or small, will be documented in changelogs like this one.
And yes, every update to the toolkit is free. Once you’ve purchased the Swatch Book Toolkit, you can always re-download the latest version using your original email. Whether I add new colour packs, correct info, or improve the layout, it’s all included.
But that’s not all
The printable Recollections Colour Book pages (the ones showing all the swatches, colour codes, and pack breakdowns) are always free for everyone—no purchase needed. If I update just those sheets, I’ll include that info in the changelog too. Just visit the Recollections Colour Book page on my website to grab the latest version whenever you need it.
Thanks for using this toolkit, and I hope it continues to make your crafting, colour-matching, and chaos-wrangling just a little easier.
