Depth view of all 45 layers in this colourful Pokémon build
Zooming in on Sylveon’s joyful expression and flowing ribbons
Description: This close-up captures the expressive charm of Sylveon and the precision of each inked and stacked layer. You can also spot the playful Eevee peeking out in the background.
This build was inspired by my niece’s favourite Pokémon card, and once my muse latched onto it, there was no turning back! I completely redrew the design in Adobe Illustrator, then transformed it into a vibrant, layered cardstock build.
From digital artboard to finished frame, this shadow box took around 16 hours to complete. It features 45 total layers (some made up of smaller sublayers), cut from 65lb cardstock using a Cricut Maker. The detail work includes ink stamping for extra depth, and a mix of glue and double-sided foam tape to give it that dynamic, 3D look.
At 8″ x 10″ in size, this piece was a joy to build and even more fun to watch come together. Whether you’re a Sylveon fan, an Eevee collector, or just a lover of layered art, this one’s full of heart and sparkle.
